The World Health Organization claims that in 2012, seven million premature deaths were caused by exposure to air pollution (indoor and outdoor). Air pollution is currently the biggest environmental risk of premature death, resulting in more than 6 million premature deaths each year from heart attack, stroke, diabetes and respiratory disease. Air pollution is now consider the world’s biggest environmental health threat, claiming 7 million lives worldwide each year.    

Recent studies show that air pollution can affect mental health, work productivity, and even stock market results. More recent scientific studies have shown that some pollutants can harm the health. And well-being of the population, even in very small quantities. Fauna is burdened with toxic pollutants from the air, soil. Or aquatic ecosystem, and thus animals can develop health problems when expose to high levels of pollutants. Nature emits hazardous substances into the air. Such as smoke from fires, which are often cause by humans; ash and gas from volcanic eruptions. And gases such as methane, which are release when organic matter in the soil decomposes.   

Molds and allergens from trees, weeds, and grasses are also airborne, exacerbated by climate change, and can be hazardous to health. Children, the elderly, people with existing medical conditions, and low-income minorities. And communities are particularly vulnerable to adverse health and economic impacts. Such as lost work days due to exposure to air pollution. One of the greatest scourges of our century is air pollution, not only because of its effect on climate change. But also because of its impact on the health of the population and individuals due to the increase in morbidity and mortality. An air pollutant is a substance in the air that can have adverse effects on humans and the ecosystem. The substance can be solid particles, liquid droplets, or gases. A pollutant can be of natural origin or man-made. Pollutants are classified as primary or secondary. Primary pollutants are usually produced from a process, such as ash from a volcanic eruption. Other examples include carbon monoxide gas from motor vehicle exhaust, or the sulfur dioxide released from factories. Secondary pollutants are not emit directly. Rather, they form in the air when primary pollutants react or interact. Ground level ozone is a prominent example of a secondary pollutant. Some pollutants may be both primary and secondary: they are both emitter directly and formed from other primary pollutants.

Air pollution occurs when the , harmful gases ,smoke and dust particles introduce in atmosphere . Air pollution harmfully affects on humans human ,animal and plant life.According to study an average human being takes 22000 breaths per day and inhales 16 kg air in a day. That means they also inhale harmful gases and substances in very large amount .This causes various types of diseases which are related to lungs. It also affects environment . It is the major reason for global warming , climate change ozone layer depletion and acid rain .

Air pollution largely comes from the use of fossil fuels such as coal and oil ,some is visible some not .The visible components soot and dust usually fall out fairly quickly ,sometime you get fine Saharan dust ,mainly quartz but some iron oxide ,these do not penetrate into the lung .Diesel exhausts produce soot and complex cyclical hydrocarbons known as nitrogenous .These are carcinogenic also in an urban environment you get bits of rubber and brake dust. Collectively these are known as particulates.
